Phoebe first visited Kutumb in 2023 and was instantly taken by the community spirit and the joy of the children. The work fits closely with her passion for social justice and building a fairer world. She squeezes her role with Friends of Kutumb in alongside work in the community sector and completing her Master of Counselling, and we’re especially grateful for her willingness to take on the behind-the-scenes paperwork that keeps Friends of Kutumb running , often with a giggle. Vee joined the board powered by a strong desire to connect with people and do some good , even before she’d ever set foot at Kutumb. Her first visit in 2025 absolutely delivered, and she quickly felt right at home. In the final year of her Master of Educational and Developmental Psychology, spare time is scarce , but when she finds it, Vee is likely travelling, camping, chasing the beach, or catching up with family and friends. Her top-tier organisational skills help keep Friends of Kutumb moving, along with a knack for bringing people together.

Tom arrived at Kutumb with the same energy, fun, and endless enthusiasm he brings to just about everything, and it didn’t take long for him to become a clear favourite with the kids. Tom arrived at Kutumb with the same energy, fun, and endless enthusiasm he brings to just about everything, and it didn’t take long for him to become a clear favourite with the kids. His infectious energy is a powerful motivator for Friends of Kutumb, and he’s rarely short on ideas or encouragement. Tom is in the final years of completing a double degree in Law and Psychology, balancing study alongside work. He has a lifelong love of football, a newly discovered appreciation for yoga, and has enthusiastically roped his whole family into Friends of Kutumb along the way.

After several years working in the not-for-profit and community sector, Anna has yet to find an organisation that aligns with her values around community development as closely as Kutumb. She remains in genuine awe of the founders’ seemingly non-stop energy and commitment. Now a counselling lecturer, Anna spends her non-teaching hours out
After several years working in the not-for-profit and community sector, Anna has yet to find an organisation that aligns with her values around community development as closely as Kutumb. She remains in genuine awe of the founders’ seemingly non-stop energy and commitment. Now a counselling lecturer, Anna spends her non-teaching hours outdoors when she can, often up a mountain, on a bike, trying to master her farming skills or upside down, persistently working on a handstand.

Avi is fondly known to the team as the man about town , or more accurately, the man of Varanasi. A respected local businessman and passionate community change-maker, Avi can always be counted on to quietly sort things out. He is a long-term volunteer and supporter of Kutumb, and despite being one of the busiest people we know, Avi somehow
Avi is fondly known to the team as the man about town , or more accurately, the man of Varanasi. A respected local businessman and passionate community change-maker, Avi can always be counted on to quietly sort things out. He is a long-term volunteer and supporter of Kutumb, and despite being one of the busiest people we know, Avi somehow always finds the time (and grace) to take care of what’s needed. He is also an incredible host, making our time in Varanasi both seamless and memorable.
